Anthony Bliss is a Lead Road Safety Specialist in the Transport Unit of the Energy, Transport and Water Department. He is an economist with more than thirty years policy and planning experience in transport, telecommunications and public sector management in New Zealand, Australia and the Middle East.
Prior to recently taking up his current position, Tony was the General Manager of the Strategy Division at the Land Transport Safety Authority, New Zealand.
He was responsible for the successful implementation and ongoing development of the National Road Safety Plan and the New Zealand Road Safety Programme, and directed the preparation of New Zealand's new national Road Safety Strategy to 2010.
