Introduction

Most road agencies use road management systems to effectively manage their transport infrastructure. The World Bank has recently undertaken two international projects aimed at helping agencies to improve the effectiveness of their road management. The Bank is pleased to offer two inter-regional distance learning seminars through the Global Development Learning Network (GDLN) to share the findings from these projects. These seminars will allow governments, consultants, technical agencies, academia and others interested in infrastructure management from around the world to learn the findings and interact with three specialists in the field.

Objectives

This seminar is to inform those involved with transport infrastructure management to learn:

  1. How to ensure that the implementation of a computerized road management system will be effective and sustainable,

  2. How to make appropriate decisions with regard to collecting data for road management systems.

Sessions

The sessions are designed as a videoconference-based distance learning seminar to hook up six countries as an active participating site. In order to disseminate findings and outcomes of the studies to a wider range of audience, a live webcast will also be available. Those at the GDLN sites and attendees via the live webcast are encouraged to participate in both Session 1 and Session 2.
