Ends:   Oct 15, 2008 17:00

The World Bank Global Road Safety Facility had a very busy last year, authorizing major grants for the international road safety operations of the World Health Organization and the Global Roads Safety Partnership (GRSP), the International Road Assessment Program (iRAP) in Peru, Argentina, Serbia and Nigeria, as well as a host of other grants. Moreover, the Facility continues to sponsor its ongoing operations, including funding the creation of the Global Traffic Safety Police Network, the Harvard Initiative for Global Health data collection project, as well as extensive country work linked to various World Bank regional investment platforms. All of these will be detailed in the forthcoming Facility Activities Report, FY06-FY08, available shortly. This report will also preview FY09-FY10 operations, and the scaled-up action plan needed to continue implementing the recommendations of the World Report of Road Traffic Injury Prevention at the Global, Regional and Country level.
