Training Workshop on Transport and Gender, March 22, 2007

ETWTR , PREM Gender and Development Group, the Transport Social Responsibility Thematic Group, SDV, and the SDN Gender Group hosted a Training Workshop on:

Transport and Gender Thursday, March 22, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm Room H1 -200

The workshop was part of the training program, which SDN is delivering as per its commitment to the implementation of the Gender Action Plan.Infrastructure is one of the key pillars of the new World Bank Gender Action Plan: gender equality as smart economics.

The workshop specifically discussed how gender can be incorporated in World Bank transport projects and what can be done to scale-up the implementation of the Gender Action Plan. The objectives of this training workshop were:

â–ª

to take stock of what has been accomplished since transport originally begun focusing on gender issues in 1996,

â–ªto share knowledge about lessons learned,
â–ªto inform staff about the tools available to scale up the gender agenda in transport and to implement the Bank's Gender Action Plan, and
â–ªto understand staff priority needs in order to move forward, and to exchange simple proposals on a way forward.
