The mission of the Transport and Social Responsibility Thematic Group is to develop better understanding of the effect of the transport sector on poverty patterns and social group structure.  The role of the transport sector in improving people’s lives and livelihoods as well as in contributing to national economic growth has not yet been sufficiently documented and studied.


The Thematic Group has two main goals, to:

  

strengthen understanding of social issues related to the transport sector;

  

develop guidance and good practice for optimizing the social benefits of the sector’s policies and investments.

The thematic group  provides a forum to exchange ideas and experience on issues related to Social analysis in transport, Inclusive Transport, Employment, Transport for Health Access, and Mitigating the spread of HIV/AIDS.
