World Bank projects are now classified by themes as well as sectors. As a result, Urban Development, previously considered a “sector”, is now a theme. Key information about themes includes:
- a theme represents a targeted outcome of a project (not an economic activity)
- a project may now be classified into up to five themes
- older projects are not mapped to themes
- some themes used to be sectors (for example, Environment)
