Subnational Finance: New Opportunities for Engagement with Local Governments and State-Owned Entities

Scope of Training: The session will introduce the subnational finance (SN) product line to urban staff and familiarize attendees with specific characteristics of working in joint World Bank/IFC teams. It will be enriched with case studies of subnational finance transactions recently undertaken in the areas of urban infrastructure and urban transport (and their impact on urban health). The session is planned for 1.5 hour.

Learning Objective: The staff will understand when a non-sovereign products is appropriate for project financing in the urban sector and able to offer preliminary information during client dialogue. Staff will also understand the project cycle of the SN transactions and will develop an understanding of IFC’s processes that will help foster and develop joint Bank/IFC teams.
