RESULTS OF THE 2011 CALL FOR PROPOSALS

In its meeting of December 14, 2011, a Selection Committee comprising the Urban Sector Manager and staff, representatives from all of the World Bank’s Regions and the MDTF Administrator, completed the review and selection of Proposals submitted by November 17, 2011 by 16 Bank Task Team Leaders, and on the basis of the criteria advertised, allocated Grants to the following projects:

The results of the selection process were communicated to the team leaders and to the representatives of the two Donors, the Governments of India and of Italy on December 21, 2011. Donor clearances, required for the large grants for MENA and South Asia, were received by January 30, 2012. Procedures for the establishment of the project grants under separate child trust funds in the name of the Task Team Leaders are on-going.

The activities of the MDTF in the other areas agreed to by its Steering Group, namely the strategy to expand the membership of the MDTF to other parties and fundraising, the communication and dissemination activities on cultural heritage and sustainable tourism, the involvement of Indian and Italian institutions in the World Bank’s cultural heritage work, and the possible synergies between the MDTF and the UNESCO-World Bank partnership agreement, are being initiated.
