The Cultural Heritage and Development Group is engaged in a number of partnerships aiming at jointly developing new and innovative approaches to cultural heritage and development. Such partnerships with governments, the private sector, and NGOs help coordinate and complement our actions. Some of the parternships that we are involved in are listed here. The Aga Khan Trust For Culture (AKTC) - The Trust focuses on the physical, social, cultural and economic revitalisation of communities in the Muslim world. It includes the Aga Khan Award for Architecture, the Historic Cities Support Programme, the Music Initiative in Central Asia, the Humanities Project, the on-line resource ArchNet, and the Aga Khan Program for Islamic Architecture at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Asia West Pacific Network for Urban Conservation (AWPNUC) - AWPNUC was formed for the purpose of exchanging cultural information and technical expertise in the area of urban conservation. The member countries share much in common in terms of cultural heritage, building technology, urban forms as well as contemporary urban problems and challenges. The Getty Conservation Institute (GCI) - GCI works internationally to advance the field of conservation through scientific research, field projects, education and training, and the dissemination of information in various media. International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) - ICCROM is an institution with a world-wide mandate to promote the conservation of all types of cultural heritage, both movable and immovable. It currently comprises over 100 Member States and aims at improving the quality of conservation practice as well as raising awareness about the importance of preserving cultural heritage. International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) - ICOMOS is an international non-governmental organization of professionals, dedicated to the conservation of the world's historic monuments and sites. Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) - OWHC is an international non-profit non-governmental organization, the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) was created to assist member cities adapt and improve their management methods in relation to the specific requirements of having a site inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) - UNESCO promotes international co-operation among its 190 Member States and six Associate Members in the fields of education, science, culture and communication. The World Conservation Union (IUCN) - IUCN works to apply sound ecosystem management to demonstrate how this is the only way to sustainable livelihoods for those directly dependent on natural resources. IUCN has been actively engaged in restoring ecosystems and regenerating people’s lives, economies and societies. The World Heritage Center - The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) seeks to encourage the identification, protection and preservation of cultural and natural heritage around the world considered to be of outstanding value to humanity. World Monuments Fund (WMF) - WMF is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of historic art and architecture worldwide through fieldwork, advocacy, grantmaking, education, and training.
