Monday - Wednesday August 04 - 06, 2008 8:30am - 1pm Room MC C1-200 Don't miss these 3 half-day sessions on the application of disaster risk reduction in development financing. The course will provide hands-on training on how natural hazards can impact development projects and how these impacts can be reduced and managed. It gives Bank staff the basic knowledge and tools required to apply these concepts to their work.
Day 1: Assessments – Analysis of hazards, vulnerability, and risk
Day 2: Mitigation – Reducing impacts in various sectors Day 3: Financing instruments, including insurance The course will be taught by Prof. Charles Scawthorn, a leading practitioner and academic scholar with more than 30 years experience in disaster risk reduction. Prof. Scawthorn has been a formal advisor in many post-disaster situations, including the recent Wenchuan Earthquake in China. Detailed Agenda Breakfast will be served.
