 The World Bank Group (mainly IBRD, IDA, IFC, GEF and the Prototype Carbon Fund, PCF) currently has about 120 active projects with solid waste management components. There are about 83 projects under supervision with $3.9 billion in loan/grant commitments, of which about 85 percent is designated for ‘urban environment’ activities. Solid waste management is the main component in more than half of these projects. An estimated 44 additional projects are in the pipeline.
