With the rise in intensive peri-urban livestock production, increased use of antibiotics in feed, growing global threat from antibiotic-resistant pathogens and emerging zoonotic diseases, management of livestock wastes is a growing global public good. This seminar presented the recent Japan CTF sponsored global study on animal wastes manage-ment at urban slaughterhouses and live markets, including what is being informally recycled.
