Country Water Resource Assistance
Strategies
Country water resources assistance strategies are an important tool in the implementation of the Bank's Water Resources Sector Strategy (pdf). They describe how the Bank can and will help improve water resources management in a specific country, and are linked upwards to the Bank’s Country Assistance Strategies (CASs) and Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSPs) and downwards to investments, bringing coherence to the Bank's support on water across the resource and service spectrum. They complement and help to shape the CASs and PRSPs. Each seeks to respond to country-specific challenges and priorities.

Did you know this about the MENA region?
The country water resources assistance strategies are a promising mechanism for stimulating coordination across water-related sectors within the Bank and the country, and for engaging regional and global water knowledge. A central focus of these strategies is the political economy of change in water resources management, and a major product will be the specification of country-specific priorities for lending and non-lending activities.

Country water resources assistance strategies are in use in selected countries in each region; priority is given to countries where water problems are serious and where there is a demand for Bank engagement.
