As part of its global programs, the World Bank carries out special initiatives to strengthen its own and its clients’ performance on certain topics that are deemed central to better water resources management and water services but do not get the attention they deserve.  At present three such initiatives exist: The International Benchmarking Network for Water and Sanitation Utilities (IB-NET) provides direct access to the world’s largest database on water and sanitation utilities’ performance. The World Bank Sanitation, Hygiene, and Wastewater Advisory Service (SWAT) provides expert technical assistance to World Bank operations and country clients in support of greater access to sanitation and hygiene services.
The Groundwater Management Advisory Team(GW-MATE) is a multi-disciplinary team of experts dealing with groundwater management issues in a variety of countries. Â
