Capacity building is the key to poverty alleviation. The World Bank is committed to learning and to knowledge sharing for sustainable development.

The Water Resources Core Team and World Bank Institute (WBI) continue to develop water resources management learning and training programs, and is sharing knowledge about water policy and management at all levels of government and through strategic partnerships. WBI's Water and Policy Management Program in particular highlights the important role that water plays in sustainable development.

The World Bank and the WBI also partner with other organizations to promote dialogue and coverage of water issues.
