Program Info: Better integration into global production networks can accelerate industry and trade competitiveness of developing countries. It is more and more likely that multinationals' location decision depends as much on availability for necessary public goods and sophistication of local partner firms as on sheer location advantages and natural resources.  What are the policy and institutional reforms that maximize the role of global buyers to the benefit of LDCs?  What are the key industry-specific issues?  What kinds of local and global collaborations are being used to overcome bottlenecks related to coordination, infrastructure and innovation?  This learning event will feature two in-depth case studies on Unilever operations in South Asia and Latin America.
