The WIPO’s World Intellectual Property Report 2011 focuses on the Changing Face of Innovation. It describes key trends in the innovation landscape – including how the innovation process has become more open, collaborative, and international; what is behind the increased demand for IP rights; and how technology markets have risen in importance. Against this background, the Report explores in which ways the views of economists on the IP system have changed. Finally, it takes a closer look at collaborative innovation models, asking how to balance private collaboration and competition and how to harness public research for innovation.
