CERDI

CERDI is well known for its expertise in conducting instruction and research on developing economics in Africa. Thus, many departments of the Universite d'Auvergne offer coursework for the program. The program attracted a large number of applicants—more than 1,000 for Cohorts I, II and III. Nearly 100 scholars, from all Bank regions, enrolled in the three cohorts.

CERDI University

The transfer of the Program to Africa has now been achieved. Key faculty members (or departments) of the partner universities—the University of Cocody, in Cote d'Ivoire, and the University of Yaounde II, in Cameroon—participated in the management and instruction of the cohorts in France. Representatives of CERDI have visited the partner campuses in Africa and have worked with government officials of the Cote d'Ivoire and Cameroon, as well as with officials of other countries from which scholars are expected to be drawn.

Programs in Africa

The four African Partners admitted their first cohort in the fall of 1998. While it is assumed that most of the demand will come from Africa, applications for these Programs are open to all World Bank member countries.
