Work Experience
  • I have had more than 12 years of experience working in Burma, Thailand and Australia. The organisations I have worked for have been diverse and include:
    • Swiss-Aid , Myanmar ( Burma), August 2004 - present
      Administration of Swiss-Aid program in Burma
    • University of Queensland , Australia, June 2002 - July 2004
      Conducting research on conservation and forest restoration practices in the developing countries
    • UN Food and Agriculture Organisation, Burma, January 1998 - March 1998 Working as a consultant in the area of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) to raise the issues of food security, poverty elimination and community development
    • The US Wildlife Conservation Society, Burma, January 1993 - December 1997 Developing and managing the international program working for the conservation of natural resources
    • Save the Children Fund – UK, Bangkok, Thailand, January 1993 - December 1993, part time
      Liaison for the development of Save the Children Fund- UK in Burma
    • UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific, Bangkok, Thailand, August 1992 - December 1992
      Working as a consultant for mangrove management, wetland conservation policy development in Burma

Achievements
  • I am managing Swiss-aid Myanmar (Burma) program that is delivering aid to community based organizations within the frame work of strategic priorities including sustainable agriculture and natural resources management, capacity building, integration of gender and women development and peace building. Annual budget of the program that I am responsible is approximately 1 million US$.
  • I received various scholarships from Canadian International Development Agency (1991), Keidanern Foundation, Japan (1992), WWF (1992), World Bank/Joint Japan Graduate Scholarship Program (1998-2000), University of Queensland Graduate School (2001-2002), Soros Foundation (2001-2002) and Prospect Burma (2002) to pursue post-graduate studies in the best universities of Thailand and Australia
  • I successfully founded international conservation program like Wildlife Conservation Society and international development program like Save the Children Fund – UK in Burma during a period when there were extremely strict regulations concerning the activities of NGOs
  • I wrote various technical and policy papers relating to the conservation, rural development and aid dilivery thrgouh consultancy services in various United Nations Agencies and academic instiiutions
  • I have managed various project activites including technical and financial assistance for the community development, nature conservation, research, training and coordination
