Ms. Duodu compiles, process, and analyzed data on some sub – sectors of the economy and computes their Value Added as well as other macroeconomic indicators for policy analysis. Born in June 25, 1972, in Accra, Ghana, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Ghana, Legon in 1999. She was a part of a team that research the Welfare Effect of Urban Roads Improvements: A Case Study of the Sankara (Ako - Adjei) She submitted a cost-benefit analysis study to the Department of Economics in partial fulfillment of an award of a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Political Science, University of Ghana, Legon. Then she served as a national service person at Ghana Statistical Service. Soon after, she got a permanent appointment at the Service, as an Assistant Statistician in 2000. Due to her interest in policy issues, she pursued a Master’s programme in Economic policy Management at the University of Ghana, Legon and graduated in 2005. Bernice interest in policy issues did not end there but went further to have her internship with National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), a development policy planning organization, in order to have the practical aspects of economic policy management especially on macroeconomic management.
Based on the outcry of the business community that the borrowings of the government from the domestic market are crowding – out of the private sector, her research paper was to find out the effects of fiscal deficits on economic growth in Ghana. |

| |  | I am an Economist by professional and I joined the Ministry of Planning, Economy and Empowerment (Formally known as President’s Office, Planning and Privatization) since September 2000. Since then to date, I have been working in the department of Macro Economy as an Economist. My scope of work includes monitoring, analysis and evaluation of macroeconomic performance indicators (GDP, CPI, BOP, money etc). I am also engaged in the collection and analysis of data and information as inputs into the preparation of annual and semi-annual reports on the state of the economy (including the Economic Survey, Policy Papers, and Budget Guidelines) and overseeing the implementation of PRS and MDGs. Prior to becoming an Economist, I worked as a Marketing Officer at a private company called Business Printers Limited for one year. I am also the chairman of Long Term Development Finance (LTDF) Technical Committee, responsible for the foreseen the establishment of a Development Financial Institution (DFI) in Tanzania. LTDF is one of the Technical Committee (TC) formed by the government in 2004 to analyze the recommendations made in the joint report of World Bank and IMF Financial Sector Assessment Programme (FSAP) and recommend an implementation plan for the Second Generation Financial Sector Reforms in Tanzania. I am also an active member in several TCs including Macroeconomic Forecasting, Financial Programming and National Multidisciplinary Technical Task Force on Globalization. I hold an M.A. in Economic Policy Management from Makerere University Uganda (2003) and a B. A. Degree in Economics from the University of Dar-es- Salaam, Tanzania (1999). My research paper on M.A Programme was on the Determinants of Trade Balance in Tanzania – 1970 – 2002. |
