Capacity enhancement is a key factor to increase development effectiveness. The World Bank Institute (WBI) as the learning arm of the Bank contributes to the client countries capacity enhancement efforts in order to achieve their development agenda. WBI with support from the Hazard Management Unit and ProVention Consortium has developed a Comprehensive Disaster Risk Management Learning Program. Both the development and the dissemination are based on extensive partnerships and use of new technology in order to translate the global knowledge to local agenda in proactive disaster risk management. The Disaster Risk Management Program provides training and learning opportunities on global scale reaching out and connecting development practitioners involved in disaster risk reduction. The objective of the program is to promote proactive disaster risk management practices by raising awareness among key stakeholders and by advancing the analytical skills and professional knowledge of development practitioners in specific areas of disaster risk management.
