The China Urban Development Quarterly is a bilingual newsletter (in Chinese and English) focusing on worldwide urban development issues of particular interest to Chinese urban professionals and government officials at state, provincial and municipal levels. This newsletter has been produced by the Urban Development Sector Unit of the East Asia and Pacific Region, working in close collaboration with the Urban and Local Government Program of the World Bank Institute, with strong support from the China Country Management Unit.

The Quarterly addresses a broad spectrum of the urban development agenda in China: urban and regional planning; metropolitan management; urban infrastructure; urban transport; municipal finance; urban poverty and services to the poor; urban environment; urban cultural heritage conservation; and capacity building of urban professionals. Regular features include worldwide news and urban events, highlighted projects, guest interviews, latest publications and reports, development experiences of other countries, and readers' feedback.

A limited number of hard copies of the Chinese version printed on environment-friendly paper and in soy ink are being distributed through the World Bank’s Beijing Office.  An interactive website has been launched to complement the Quarterly, enabling the readers to meet international and local experts through videos. The English version of the Quarterly seeks to promote understanding of urban issues in China to a wider audience.
