The Urban Capacity Building programs in China are developed by the Urban and Local Government Program of World Bank Institute (WBI), in close collaboration with the Infrastructure Sector Department of East Asia and Pacific Region (EASIN) and WBI’s partner institutions in China.     Â
In the context of China's rapid industrialization and urbanization, this course aims at improving the sustainable urban development knowledge and managerial skills of city officials using the most up-to-date international and domestic theories and innovative practice, and strengthening the training capacity of local partners by introducing distance learning approaches.
Urban Planning Society of China (UPSC) was founded in 1956 as a national academic and professional association providing knowledge services to urban planners in China.
In February 2008, World Bank Institute and UPSC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and agreed to collaborate on learning and knowledge sharing programs, with a specific focus on building capacity of urban planning professionals in China.Â
