Economics of Education for Policymakers and Practitioners

In Latin America, there are 2.5 million children out of school—1.2 million of them girls.

The “Economics of Education for Policymakers and Practitioners" course helps education professionals make better use of economics tools when making complex decisions to improve quality, efficiency, equity, and sustainability of education systems. The principles learned—or refreshed--in this course, also provide a useful foundation for workshops and courses offered by the WBI Education program, including the Strategic Choices for Education Reform program and the Post-Basic Education Reform program.

This course is highly participatory and stimulates critical thinking and reflection as you apply the skills and concepts to both your course exercises and your daily work in the education sector. Ongoing e-discussions offer great opportunities for participants to learn from each other as practitioners and from your facilitators.
