| The Education Program of the World Bank Institute’s Human Development Group forms an integral part of the Institute’s mission goal: “promoting knowledge and learning for a better world.” The program addresses the need among client countries for capacity development to improve the quality, efficiency, equity and sustainability of education reforms. In order to do so, the Education Program focuses on improving the provision of basic education as well as post-basic provision, particularly in the context of meeting the needs of the knowledge economy. Although the Program is global in its experience and reach, it also recognizes that one size does not fit all. To maximize effectiveness, capacity building solutions must be tailored to a country’s specific context and vision. The Education Program enhances capacities in countries at the individual, organizational, and societal levels by customizing learning offerings to specific national needs and priorities and by designing programs with long-term institution building in mind.
