Prerequesites

In order to be eligible for the course, we require you to know a basic level of economics. But how do you know that you fulfill this requirement? If you are familiar with the following concepts, you will most likely be able to follow the level of teaching:

  • Supply and demand
  • Consumer surplus
  • Marginal cost
  • Opportunity cost
  • Market failure
  • Externality

A second necessary qualification for this course is English proficiency.

Costs

Course Fees and other expenses:  Participants are expected to cover the following costs: (a) course fees: $500 for developing countries nationals working for their home institutions, $1,500 local staff of international organizations;  developed country nationals employed by local organizations and $3,500 all others; (b) accommodations and food expenses: the hotel for which we will provide booking assistance costs $60 per day excluding meals, but participants can also opt to make their own arrangements with other accommodations; (c) travel fare to and from Thailand.  Field trip costs will be borne by WBI. 

Application

We are accepting your application now. The deadline for applying to this course is October 20, 2007.  Please note that placement is competitive and that you would need to allocate ample time to secure your own funding for attending the course. Please download the application form in Word (135kb), and send the completed form and your curriculum vitae to us. You have two options to send us your application:

Payment Policy:   Invited participants are required to pay a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the relevant fees, no later than November 30, 2007.   Participants who have paid full course fees, but who are unable to attend EEDP due to circumstances beyond their control, will be reimbursed 80%.
