October 17-21, 2005
World Bank, J Building, B1-080 Auditorium, Washington DC, USA
This course reviews financial sector issues of current importance for policymakers working with or in developing countries. The course includes sessions led by top researchers in the field of finance that layout the theoretical arguments on each issue and summarize the existing empirical evidence, as well as sessions where World Bank staff with expertise on each issue present and discuss examples of the Bank’s involvement and experience in these areas. This is not an introductory course in finance nor is it a course that will address all relevant matters concerning each topic. The workshop is intended to update participant’s skills on a broad set of themes. Some prior knowledge of the issues discussed is required. Only those with relevant experience in the field should apply.
