| A dissemination seminar for the new publication  Japan, Moving toward a More Advanced Knowledge Economy was held in Bangkok, Thailand, on May 19, 2006. It was organized by the World Bank Institute in cooperation with Office of National Economic & Social Development Board (NESDB) and Bank’s country office. This learning event allowed the authors and Thai government officials and private sector representatives to share the experience of Japan in establishing its knowledge-based economy and discuss its relevance to the future development of Thailand. The seminar attracted participation of high ranking government officials, including Deputy Secretary General of NESDB. The outcome will be used as an input to Thailand’s 10th national development plan. For the detailed agenda, please click here. (PDF, 26Kb) The book authors presented the highlights of their chapters, focusing on human recourses, telecom industry, IT infrastructure, and competitiveness of Japanese companies and industries, each followed by comments of the Thai discussants. The Thai side also made several presentations on Thailand’s progress towards Knowledge Economy.
