At the request of the World Bank Senegalese Country Team, K4D delivered a presentation on the benchmark Knowledge Economy assessment of Senegal. The attached assessment highlights Senegal's position with respect to its readiness for the Knowledge Economy, and sets the stage for further more indepth Knowledge Assessments on Senegal. While Senegal has experienced relatively stronger economic growth in recent years, its overall performance on the knowledge front is relatively weak; weaker than the average for sub-Saharan African countries. As such, the recent stronger economic growth may not be sustained. In terms of individual pillars, Senegal is relatively stronger in the EIR and ICT, but weaker in education and innovation or technological adoption.
