The World Bank Institute's Poverty and Growth Program (PGP) aims to build the capacity of poor, and occasionally, middle income countries to design and implement effective poverty reduction strategies. Customized "country learning programs" are used to leverage the resources of the development community to fight against the deprivation, vulnerability and powerlessness of poverty.

Learn more about the PGP's background and its main components: Poverty Analysis Initiative (PAI), Macroeconomic Policies for Growth and Poverty Reduction, which also supports the Poverty Reduction Strategy Design and Implementation (PRSDI), and Gender and Macroeconomics Initiative.
