To address the capacity building needs in the three areas of intervention and to ensure that all actors are reached, various learning activities are proposed.

Strategic seminars for senior policymakers: Short strategic seminars with senior policymakers are organized to promote evidence-based policy formulation in poverty reduction strategies. Click here to read more.

Workshops for managers of information systems: Two types of workshops are offered, which aim at improving the process of data production, data analysis and decision-making. By improving the understanding of the overall process and its components, closer collaboration will be promoted between producers and users.

  • Managing Poverty Monitoring and Evaluation Systems Workshop: The purpose of the workshop is to provide managers of poverty monitoring and evaluation systems with the opportunity to review the steps required to establish an efficient poverty monitoring and evaluation system for the PRSP. Click here to read more.

  • Strengthening Statistical Systems' Capacity Workshop: The purpose of the workshop is to provide participants with tools and techniques to assess their country’s information system. Click here to read more.

Technical courses: Two levels of technical courses are offered. Basic courses aim at providing participants with an overview and introduction to specific themes, with a focus on practical issues. Advanced courses cover specific topics in more depth and usually require stronger technical capacity.

  • Advanced Poverty Course: Poverty Mapping: 5 days advanced technical course for economists, statisticians or other professionals providing participants with the techniques and methods to produce spatially disaggregated estimates of poverty and poverty maps, on the basis of statistical techniques combining census and household survey data. Click here to read more.

  • Advanced Poverty Course: Poverty Dynamics: 5 days advanced technical course for economists, statisticians or other professionals providing participants with the techniques and methods for analyzing changes in poverty over time. Click here to read more.
