Capital Flows, Monetary Policy and Current Issues in International Finance

Description (selected)

Paris, France

April 23-26, 2007

With global current account imbalances having widened to unprecedented levels and oil prices remaining high, the topics of this four-day seminar were timely and well demanded. It provided cutting edge analysis of the current issues in managing capital flow volatility, discussed causes and implications of the global imbalances, and exchanged views on policy options to minimize economic disruptions while adjusting to the imbalances.   New issues such as transparency, financial deepening, managing FOREX reserves, and regulating hedge funds were also discussed. Participants were intensively engaged in three Roundtables for Policymakers, and appreciated the opportunity of interacting with international experts.
