The Poverty and Growth Program (PGP) aims to enhance the capacity of poor and middle-income countries to design and implement effective poverty reduction strategies. Customized “country learning programs” are used to leverage the resources of the development community to fight against the deprivation, vulnerability and powerlessness of poverty.
For low income countries this support takes place, during all stages, within the Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS) framework. For middle income countries, PGP assists in either the overall poverty strategy or in analysis and evaluation of a specific set of poverty reduction policies.
PGP's Main Components
The Poverty Analysis Initiative (PAI) aims at promoting increased use of information and analysis in poverty measurement and diagnostics, poverty monitoring, and poverty impact evaluation.
Gender and Macroeconomics Initiative aims to incorporate gender dimensions as an essential component in designing effective and sustainable poverty reduction strategies.
