Strengthening the Dewan Perwakilan Daerah Budget Oversight and Advisory Role

The purpose of this program is to strengthen the capacity of the Indonesian House of Regional Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Daerah or DPD RI) to effectively advise the House of Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat or DPR RI) on the formulation of the national budget and to conduct legislative oversight of the implementation of the budget.  Its intended overall outcome is to enable the DPD RI to conduct two basic legislative functions: representation of regional interests in national policy making through budget oversight and advice (considerations) on budget allocations/expenditure.  This objective will be achieved in two key governmental sectors: health and education.
