This seminar was designed to facilitate a sharing of parliamentary experiences in Africa and East Asia on the role of Parliament and Member of Parliaments in fostering accountability. A particular focus was given on how accountability monitoring relates to poverty reduction and socio-economic development. The seminar fostered networking and dialogue among African and East Asian experts and Parliamentary leaders on issues of governance and accountability. The seminar was organized by the Parliamentary Centre (Canada) with support from World Bank Institute.
