December 11-13, 2007
Bangkok, Thailand
Thailand enacted the new Constitution in August 2007. This constitution has stressed decentralized governance as an important principle to improve public sector governance in Thailand. To implement the provisions of the new constitution, the Government of Thailand has proposed amendments to existing legislation as well as enacting new laws relating to local government organization and finances and their oversight by national government and by citizens at large. This activity will facilitate brainstorming on the new legislation in the light of recent experiences in other countries.
