Parliamentary Officers' Study Program

From May 4 through May 15, 2008 World Bank Institute collaborated with the Parliament of Canada in the delivery of the Parliamentary Officers'  Study Program - a course designed for senior parliamentary staff to learn about such issues as Chamber and Committee Procedures; Democratic Reform, Financial Systems, Human Resources and Research and Analysis. The course, offered in French, marked the beginning of a potential multi-year collaboration between the Parliament of Canada and WBI which will focus on parliamentary staff training, especially from legislatures in la Francophone.
The World Bank partially sponsored participants from the National Assemblies in Madagascar, Rwanda, Mauritania, Mali, Cameroon and Laos. Other participants were from Haiti, Cambodia, Brazil, Burundi, Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Seychelles, Chad and Tunisia.
