VC Course on Legislative Committees for Dominican Republic and Guatemala

May – June 2008

As part of World Bank Institute’s ongoing work providing support to the Parliaments in the Dominican Republic and Guatemala, WBI together with the National Democratic Institute (NDI) delivered a parliamentary staff training course in Spanish via a series of five video-conferences for professional legislative staff in each of these countries.   

The aim of the parliamentary staff training course was to build the capacity of the professional legislative staff to provide support to their respective parliaments. The objective of the course was to introduce professional legislative staff to legislatives committees/ commissions, focusing on the functions, powers and procedures, needs and related issues that govern the effectiveness of legislative committees/ commissions.
