The Agricultural Technology Transfer Project for China will develop and test innovative models for agricultural technology transfer and application aimed to generate additional farm income in high value markets with a potential for scaling up. In this way the Project aims to give poor farmers a chance to participate in high value agricultural markets domestically and internationally. The project has the following components: 1) Financing for this component will include the building of a set of large scale technology transfer markets in or near the Yangling Development Zone to be used for exhibition and/or trade of agricultural technologies and information. The proposed technology market concept builds on modern communication technologies and is designed to respond to farmers' demand for new ideas, technologies and business opportunities. 2) Promotion of Commercially Attractive Key Technologies and New Institutional Arrangements: a) Researcher-Investor-Farmer Technologies; b) Targeted Technology Transfer; c) Public Sector Support Programs; Innovation Support Fund; 3) Project Support Component. The Project will finance a range of capacity building and training activities such as: a) policy capacity building, b) monitoring and evaluation, c) training, study tours and research, and d) other project management activities including provision of vehicles and equipment.**
