The Kenya Agricultural Productivity Project (KAPP) aims to contribute to the revitalization of agriculture. The project has four components: 1) Facilitation o f Sector policy and Institutional Reforms: Subcomponent 1.1 supports a number o f KAPP coordinating bodies; and Subcomponent 1.2: Supports the National Reform Process; 2) Support to Extension System Reforms: Sub-component 2.1 supports facilitation of consultations for extension reform, and sub-component 2.2 supports learning pilots and capacity building. 3) Support to Research System Reforms: Sub-component 3.1 supports facilitation of a consultative process for the establishment of a National Agriculture Research System (NARS), and sub-component 3.2 funds support to the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI). 4) Support to Farmer/client Empowerment: Sub-component 4.1 finances institutions for farmer organization and empowerment, and sub-component 4.2 supports targeted interventions for client empowerment. The overall project takes a three pronged approach to reform: policy dialogue and stakeholder consultation, capacity building, and piloting.**
